Hi! I'm Charlie, a Sound Recordist, Mixer and AS, with 15 years experience in the broadcast industry. I started my career assisting in outside broadcast and live music recording trucks (40+ UK & European tours and productions), learning from some highly experienced engineers, and later transitioning into location and studio sound for TV, Film, Commercial and Corporate video (400+ productions). I provide a full complement of the latest and greatest sound mixing and recording equipment, suitable for any production, and I'm a full member of the Institute of Professional Sound.
Working on productions of every possible format, my work has been broadcast on the BBC, ITV, Sky, MTV, XFM, London Live and across internet video services like Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo and Twitch.tv. I've also helped to deliver numerous commercial campaigns and corporate communication productions for some of the biggest companies in the world.
A number of the films, documentaries and commercials that I've been involved in have received awards from film festivals worldwide and achieved recognition at the Cannes Lions and Brand Film Festivals. Films don't win awards with bad sound.
MORE THAN LOCATION SOUND.
While location sound for drama, documentary, commercial, & corporate makes up the majority of my work, I also have experience delivering audio for studio based productions such as panel shows, reality TV, podcasts and music recording. Further to location and studio work I have a fair bit of experience working in outside broadcast environments; particularly music and sports events. I recently added to my knowledge pool by ensuring I fully understand the very latest broadcasting tech developments, which is powering the most complex media events on the planet; with a Level 3 Certification in Dante Audio Networks.
I also offer some post-production services from my own small studio (and occasionally on location). I offer ADR & voiceover recording, dialogue edits, re-recording mixes and music mixing and mastering. I'll even take a look at bad recordings that need restoring, and can also restore damaged vinyl and tape recordings using the latest hardware and software processors.
With toes dipped into both worlds I'm happy to provide pre-production consultation on all aspects of the audio for any project from capture to delivery, including guidance on the acoustics of locations and studio spaces based on findings from location recces.
